Aden Economic Conference
The General Investment Authority participated in the preparatory workshop for the Aden Economic Conference, scheduled to be held at the end of January under the theme “A Genuine Partnership Between the Private Sector and the Government.” The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the local authority of Aden Governorate.
The two-day workshop aimed to develop a unified government vision to serve as a basis for dialogue with the private sector and donor agencies. This involved unifying government perspectives on economic partnership, identifying bureaucratic and regulatory challenges, formulating a preliminary list of priority projects, and reviewing laws and legislation requiring modernization.
During the event, Mr. Salem Al-Wali, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, emphasized that the workshop represents a crucial step towards the first investment conference in Aden. He stressed the need to produce practical and implementable outcomes that strengthen dialogue with the private sector and donor agencies, noting that the private sector is the engine of development and that overcoming the crisis will only be achieved through effective investments and projects.
Mr. Hakim Al-Shaabi, Deputy Governor of Aden, indicated that the city of Aden is on the cusp of a new economic phase based on openness, facilitating investment, and modernizing legislation. The workshop concluded after reviewing the working papers submitted by the participating entities and developing a unified government vision to pave the way for the final preparations of the Aden Economic Conference. This vision aims to strengthen the partnership between the government and the private sector and open promising horizons for investment and sustainable development in the capital, Aden, and neighboring governorates.
The event was held over two consecutive days, December 10-11, 2025, with the participation of a number of undersecretaries, directors general, department heads, and officials from entities related to the economic and service sectors.
